Football can refer to different sports depending on where you’re from. I’ll cover the two main ones: American football and soccer (known as football in most of the world).

• Objective: Score points by getting the football into the opposing team’s end zone, either by carrying it (a touchdown) or kicking it through goalposts (a field goal).
• Game Length: Four quarters of 15 minutes each (in the NFL).
• Team Size: 11 players on the field per team.
• Positions:
  • Quarterback (leader of the offense, throws or hands off the ball).
  • Wide Receiver (catches passes).
  • Running Back (runs with the ball).
  • Offensive Line (blocks defenders).
  • Defensive Line and Linebackers (defend against the offense).
  • Cornerbacks and Safeties (defend against the pass).

NFL (National Football League) is the premier professional league in the U.S., with the Super Bowl being one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
